Askham Hall Winter Wedding
A few days before Christmas, I made my way towards the Eden Valley in Penrith ready for Katie & Aly’s Askham Hall Wedding. This 12-century Hall offers some beautiful views across the rolling hills and it’s private gardens. Such a lovely setting for their winter wedding.
Beautiful barn wedding in Cumbria
The Lake District wedding venue also has it’s own accommodation catering for guests and a large bridal suite for the morning preparations. Katie and her bridesmaids were busy into their hair and makeup as I arrived, with plenty of laughs taking selfies and cracking open the fizz.
With Katie in her dress, the room filled with emotion as her bridesmaids entered for the big reveal. I especially loved the moment with her Mum looking proud just before she walks down the aisle.
Romantic winter wedding decor
Their intimate ceremony and reception took place within Askham Hall‘s charming old barn. The room was filled with twinkling lights, pinecones and decorated woodland hoops which really added to the romantic winter feel.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed mulled wine and a few games of pool whilst I took the couple away for some portraits around the gardens. It was great to take advantage of the gypsy caravan at the venue, nestled under the trees between the Hall and gardens.
Guests cheered the couple onto the dance floor for their beautiful first dance before The Wayfarers really brought the evening to life with their indie set. The dance floor was packed with laughter and some very crazy dancing! A brilliant party and an incredible ending to their day.
I enjoyed every minute of Katie & Aly’s wedding at Askham Hall. I can’t wait to return to the Lake District again soon!
